Natural ingredients
Although there are fascinating properties associated with herbs, flowers, essential oils,
condiments, grains, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, that does not mean they are harmless.
Natural does not necessarily mean safe. Do not taste or injest your ingredients once you have opted
to use them for cosmetic purposes.
Essential Oils External Use Only
Essential oils are for external use only and should not be injested.
Also essential oils should not be placed directly on the skin without
diluting first in a carrier oil such as vegetable oil.
Photosensitivity
Some essential oils and fruits, particularly the ones derived from citric plants, have been known to cause photosensitive reaction in skin which is a form of skin damage. Take care not to sit in sunlight after applying some recipes and blends to your skin or after exposing yourself to certain essential oils.
Skin Test
In order to make sure you are not allergic to any ingredients
or treatments, please conduct a patch test on your skin before
proceeding with a full recipe. Simply place a drop of the mixture
on an inconspicuous part of your arm, place a bandaid over it
and wait 2-4 hours. Check to see if there is a reaction.
Pregnant Women
Please be aware of the many herbs and essential oils which may
affect your pregnancy negatively. Many have uterine stimulation
properties which may induce pre-mature labour.
Children
Please use extra caution when considering aromatherapy for children.
Read and learn how to use essential oils properly to avoid allergic
reactions.
Those with Epilepsy or High Blood Pressure
Please note that some herbs and essential oils may be physically
aggravating for those diagnosed with Epilepsy or high blood
pressure.
Practice Food Safe Common Sense
When mixing recipes, make sure your surfaces, tools and ingredients are clean and that your containers have been sterilized as if you were making jams or wine. Avoid cross contamination and over-handling of ingredients. Keep your home spa mixing tools separate from your home cooking tools.
