9 floral waters. One of my mobile spa clients recently asked me if I knew of any good ways to stay cool this summer and I immediately suggested spraying floral water directly on the skin like a perfume!
Floral waters are popular in esthetics and spa treatments and are a safe and effective way to use aromatherapy!
They’re also a great way to beat the summer heat! But that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

What are Floral Waters?

Floral waters, also known as Hydrosols, are produced alongside essential oils during the steam distillation process. Floral waters possess both the qualities of the essential oil as well as the water-soluble components of the plant.
While Hydrosols are produced as a by-product of essential oils, these aromatic waters are much less concentrated than their essential oil counterparts. Floral waters are naturally very mild, so they’re safe to use on children, the elderly, and those with chronic afflictions.
Floral waters can be used daily and directly on the skin. Floral waters are gentler than essential oils and can be substituted for essential oils, if essential oils cause irritation.
Floral waters are used as astringents, toners, and healing sprays. They can be used in home spa recipes like cleansers, toners, masques, lotions, crèmes, or foot sprays.
Similar to essential oils, floral waters may be blended together to create synergies, or they can be added to blends containing essential oils. Not only do they heighten the effect of the blend, they also add subtle components of the plant to create a more complex bouquet.
